    My open letter to Congress -

    This is what Congress has given those of us who are over 60 and/or working as contractors – and they have the audacity to call this a victory when the bill couldn’t even garner enough votes to pass on its merit.

    For several million otherwise eligible Americans who will be priced out [can’t afford to buy a policy and not eligible for subsidies], what are we expected to cut from our personal budgets to buy one of your good buddy’s insurance policies [while illegal aliens continue to receive free health care at the hospital ER – WITHOUT CONSEQUENCE]?

    So, if we can’t come up with the extra money to buy your friends’ insurance policies, you promise to fine us, and if we still can’t afford to buy the policy and pay the fine, you will send us to jail.

    Kaiser reported:

    “Cost is the Achilles' heel of the whole complicated undertaking. To keep the cost of the bill at around $1 trillion over 10 years, lawmakers had to limit subsidies for people seeking coverage through the exchange.

    The aid tapers off dramatically for households with solid middle-class incomes. A family of four making $66,000 a year would still have to spend about 10 percent of its income on premiums - less than a mortgage but more than a car payment. And that's without counting copayments and deductibles.
