4 dead, 18 wounded in citywide shootings since Friday night

Four people were killed — including a 15-year-old boy — and at least 18 have been injured in shootings across Chicago since Friday night.

A male was found shot to death in a gangway Sunday morning in the Roseland neighborhood on the Far South Side. The body was found about 7:40 a.m. in the 11100 block of South Lowe Avenue, police said. His age was not available. He had a gunshot wound in his chest and was dead on arrival, police said. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s office confirmed the death but could not provide further details Sunday morning.

A 23-year-old man was found shot to death at 3:05 a.m. Sunday in the 7200 block of South Wentworth Avenue in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood. He had multiple gunshot wounds, police said. The man, who lived in the 100 block of West 126th Street, was pronounced dead at the scene at 3:24 a.m., according to the medical examiner’s office. His name was withheld early Sunday pending family notification.

About 10 p.m. Saturday, Dekarlos Scott, 15, was killed a block from his home and a 16-year-old boy was wounded in a shooting in the Roseland neighborhood on the Far South Side. They were standing on a corner in the 100 block of West 109th Street when a vehicle pulled up. Several people got out and opened fire, police said.

Dekarlos lived in the 100 block of West 110th Street, according to police and the medical examiner’s office. He suffered a gunshot wound to the head and was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:25 p.m., officials said. The 16-year-old boy was shot in the shoulder and taken to Roseland Community Hospital, police said.

The first fatal shooting of the weekend happened at 4:44 p.m. Saturday in the Morgan Park neighborhood on the South Side. Taurus Williams, 23, was near 111th Street and Homewood Avenue when he was shot in the chest, authorities said. Two groups of people were at the location when shots were heard, police said. People ran in different directions and Williams was left on the ground.

Williams, of the 300 block of West 100th Street, was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead at 5:37 p.m., authorities said.

The most recent nonfatal shooting occurred Sunday afternoon in the South Shore neighborhood. Two men, ages 47 and 42, were shot about 3:50 p.m. in the 2400 block of East 75th Street, police said. The 47-year-old was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital and the 42-year-old was taken to Christ Medical Center, police said. Their conditions were not known.
A 16-year-old boy was shot in his left leg bout 2:15 p.m. Sunday in the 2900 block of East 88th Street in the South Chicago neighborhood, police said. He was taken to Advocate Trinity Hospital.

About 12:30 p.m., a 34-year-old man was critically injured in a shooting in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood on the Southwest Side. He was shot multiple times in the 6900 block of South Talman Avenue, police said. He was taken in critical condition to Christ Medical Center.

At least 13 other people have been wounded in shootings across the city since Friday night.
