Children's watering cans recalled due to lead paint
Children's watering cans recalled due to lead paint
45 minutes ago
NEW YORK (Reuters) - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission issued a voluntary recall of Chinese-made Robbie Ducky Kids Watering Cans sold by crafts retailer Jo-Ann Stores Inc because their beaks contain lead paint.
The CPSC said the recall involves about 6,000 cans, which were sold at Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores across the United States between February and August 2007 for about $10.
The duck-shaped cans are yellow and feature an orange beak.
This latest round of recalls involving children's goods made in China comes amid heightened scrutiny of Chinese exports following Mattel Inc's recalls of millions of toys this month -- some of which were due to excessive amounts of lead paint.
Lead is toxic and can pose serious health risks to young children who often put toys and other objects in their mouths.
