Rep Lewis decries loss of white voters by Dems

Maybe if they didn't try to divide America into white and black in the first place, they might have a better shot with voters who don't like being placed in a box:

The Hill:

White voters preferred Republican candidates by almost two-to-one in the midterms last year. Their support helped the GOP win 22 seats in the states that make up the Old Confederacy. The Democrats' only pickup in the region was the New Orleans district where the party holds a registration advantage.

Since November, there have been a string of defections by Southern Democratic state lawmakers, which has prompted renewed speculation about the party's future in the region. Former Alabama Rep. Artur Davis (D) said Democrats should even consider running as Independents if they want to succeed.

Lewis, who was a civil rights activist before being elected to Congress in 1986, said he's concerned the party is losing its diversity, which will make it difficult to reclaim the lost seats.

"We've got to go all out and get white voters, especially white men, to come back to the Democratic Party," he told The Ballot Box. "I just think it's important for the Democratic Party to roll out and try to reveal itself and not become a party that is split along racial lines."

I don't know - what do you think? Maybe if they stop calling white men "racists" at the drop of a hat (or if they're in the tea party movement) do you think that might help a little?

Lewis is clueless. The way to win back white voters is for Democrats to start treating them as human beings and not statistics on a scorecard. Stop playing the race card at every opportunity and address the concerns of all Americans regardless of color.

Since they are incapable of doing that, chances are very good that the white vote will coelesce around the GOP in 2012 and make Obama a one term president.

Isn't this the same guy that falsely accused Tea Party members of spitting on him and calling him the n-word? Yet he wants white voters to support him? Good luck with that.

Lewis needs to read up on the histories of the Democratic and Republican Parties and ask himself why he's a Democrat.

Lets ask some questions:

1. Are you a Democrat because you want to sell out the futures of American children to illegal aliens by selling off their college seats and the future job opportunities those seats bring them by supporting the Dream Act?

2. Are you a Democrat because you want to overpopulate the United States with illegal aliens and their offspring that result in more people than jobs and grow poverty and unemployment amongst American Workers that in turn grows government spending supporting them which in turns grows our deficits and the public debt that underwrites this nonsense?

3. Are you a Democrat because you want to reward a political group that started a war to sustain slavery? That canceled slavery reparations? That instituted Black Codes and Jim Crow Laws? That fought tooth and nail against every one of the US civil rights acts the Republicans introduced and were ultimately responsible for passing?

4. Are you a Democrat because you want to support the party of JFK who himself voted against the Republican initiated 1957 US Civil Rights Act when he was a US Senator, and while it passed it was gutted by the Democrats who did support it which prolonged equal rights in our nation for another 8 years?

5. Are you a Democrat because you want to support the party that traps black Americans in ghettos in HUD Slave Cabins because you sold their jobs and economic opportunities off to illegal aliens and immigrants?

6. Are you a Democrat because you want to tell workers and businesses that if they don't pay taxes on incomes they earned to support welfare and HUD Slave Cabins for those who didn't, they'll go to jail, become felons and lose their right to vote?

7. Are you a Democrat because you want to ignore that it was Republicans who freed the slaves, it was Republicans who fought for equal rights for black Americans every singe day after we won the Civil War, it was Republicans who amended our US Constitution to guarantee these rights to all Americans, it was Republicans who filed the brief with the US Supreme Court in Brown vs Board of Education, and it was a Republican President who 20 years later actually enforced that ruling, the very President you disgraced with an impeachment hearing, the same President who established the EPA and OSHA?

Why are Democrats, Democrats? Inquiring minds want to know. Why would anyone, let alone a black civil rights leader, want to be a Democrat?!! Democrats should ask themselves, "why am I a Democrat?"

Too much racial rhetoric, Americans are sick of the race/class wars that Democrats manufacture to to stay in power.

I believe you have alienated white men far too much Mr Lewis. Short of abolishing affirmative action and all other anti white male, hate legislation you have little chance of attracting them to your side.../hint
