Chinese hack computers at congressman's office

    Associated Press

WASHINGTON — A Virginia congressman said today the FBI has found that four of his government computers have been hacked by sources working out of China.

In remarks prepared for delivery this afternoon, Rep. Frank Wolf says he has been told by the FBI that four computers in his personal office were compromised.

The Virginia Republican says that similar incidents — also originating from China — have taken place on computers of other members of Congress and at least one House committee.

A spokesman for Wolf says the four computers were being used by staff members working on human rights issues.

Wolf is a longtime critic of the Chinese government's human rights record.

People need to sit up and pay attention. This is not something to take lightly. If they can hack those office systems, then what is stopping them from making attempts to our more important systems and jeapordizing our national security?

Oh but China is our friend. You know....kind of like Mexico. Give me, you abide by one rule and we abide by another, we win and you loose and things will be fine. Nice arrangement.

And of course we now have computerized voting, without a "paper trail" in most states!

Speaking of the security of our federal computers:

Gov't shows slow progress on system security

Federal agencies as a whole scored higher in their compliance with information-security rules in 2007 compared to the previous year, but nine of twenty-four agencies continue to post a failing grade, according to an annual report card published on Tuesday.

The report card (pdf), which gives a numerical grade to each government agency for its compliance with the Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA) of 2002, gave a grade of 'C' to the combined government effort. As previously reported by SecurityFocus, the two-dozen agencies that are included in the report card did slightly better in complying with FISMA rules than in 2006, in which they scored a 'C-'. However, nine of the agencies -- including the Departments of Commerce, Defense and Treasury -- score failing grades on the latest report card.

I'm not supprised. The Chinses are technology theives and all those fine illegals that they will not take back are probably spies. They are having anchor babies too.

DHS Hacked more than 850 times in the past two years, Pentagon Hacked, State department Compromised, Banks, Universities, DMV's, and Retail giants. Yet they expect us to believe that they can keep our personal data secure when complying with the Real ID Act. The agencies in charge of keeping our nation secure cannot even keep their systems secure. Anyone else see a problem?

I hope this latest attack is a wake up call. THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A SECURE DATABASE.

Exactly. They had something on the radio about the Senates restaurants. The House privitized theirs and it's making profits, better service and food etc. The Senate runs thier own. It looses millions. Guess it's been around 40 something years and only showed a profit 7 of those years. And they want to handle universal health care and can't handle a restaurant. They can't handle anything it seems.
