Chris Christie Showing Affinity for Muslim Extremists

Back in May of this year, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie was thought to be one of the top five choices to be Mitt Romney’s vice presidential running mate. At that time, I wrote about Christie’s pro-Muslim stance and his support for Muslim extremists.

Case in point was in 2008, when then US Attorney for New Jersey Chris Christie offered to be a character witness at the deportation hearing of Mohammed Qatanani. Qatanani was an imam at the Islamic Center of Passaic County who favored funding Hamas. On one occasion, Christie embraced and kissed Qatanani.

In 2010, Governor Christie approved of the firing of a New Jersey Transit worker who, on his own time attended a 9/11 memorial ceremony. At the ceremony, Derek Fenton burned several pages of the Koran in protest of the Muslim involvement in the terrorist attack. The ACLU came to Fenton’s rescue and helped him get his job back because Christie and the state violated Fenton’s First Amendment rights of free speech.

Now it seems that his penchant for Muslim extremists or Islamists has taken another step. In May, New Jersey Attorney General Jeffrey Chiesa ruled that the New York City Police intelligence operation conducted in New Jersey on Muslims was perfectly legal. In response to the NYPD intelligence operation, Christie formed a Muslim outreach committee to help with state relations with the growing Muslim community. Incidentally, I can’t find any information anywhere to indicate that he has a Christian or Jewish outreach committee, just one for the Muslims.

That alone should be cause for alarm, but when you see who some of the people Christie has appointed to the committee, it should raise a ton of red flags for New Jersey residents. According to RadicalIslam.org, four of the committee members are:

• Imam Mohammad Qatanani, whose deportation is sought by the Department of Homeland Security for not disclosing on his green card application that he was arrested and convicted by Israel in 1993 for his involvement with Hamas;
• Ahmed Shedeed, a fervent supporter of the Muslim Brotherhood and President of the Islamic Center of Jersey City, a mosque with a history of Islamist leadership. Its website currently contains disturbing statements about jihad, the West, wife beating and polygamy;
• Mohammed Younes, the President of the American Muslim Union, a group with Islamist leadership and close ties to Qatanani’s mosque, which was founded by a Hamas fundraiser; and
• Imam Abdul Basit of the New Brunswick Islamic Center, a mosque founded by a radical cleric. In July, it held a Brotherhood-linked seminar featuring multiple extremist speakers.

Perhaps Gov. Christie’s affinity for radical Muslims explains his buddy-buddy appearance with President Barack Obama when he toured Hurricane Sandy’s devastation. A number of political commentators noted that Christie’s overtly friendly demeanor towards Obama was disconcerting to conservatives as it went above and beyond what they would expect from him.

If any of you live in New Jersey, I advise you to look into Christie’s pro-Muslim actions and how he is catering to this apostate religion while not extending the same attention to Christians and Jews. I may have been born in New Jersey, but am sure glad I don’t live there and haven’t for years.
