    Huckabee in 2012 ?

    November 29, 2009

Huckabee unsure about another presidential bid

    Posted: November 29th, 2009 11:51 AM ET

Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee says he will be looking at the 2010 midterm election results as part of his decisionmaking about 2012.
(CNN) - Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee said Sunday he remains undecided about another presidential run in 2012, but called the possibility "less likely than more likely."

Appearing on "FOX News Sunday," Huckabee noted the election is almost three years away and that, regardless of what happens between now and then, President Barack Obama will be a tough opponent.

"It's hard to say. A lot of it depends on how the elections turn out next year," Huckabee said of the 2010 mid-term vote expected to bring some Republican gains in Congress.

A recent USA Today/Gallup poll showed Huckabee was the front-runner among possible Republican nominees for 2012. However, Huckabee said he would need assurances that the Republican Party would unite behind his candidacy, unlike 2008 when he was considered an outsider by the GOP mainstream.

"It's less likely than more likely," Huckabee said of running for the GOP nomination again. Besides, he said, he's got a good job now.

"The reason I wouldn't is this FOX gig I've got right now ... is really, really wonderful," Huckabee said of his talk show on the network.

"Jumping into the pool, you've got to make sure there's some water in it," he said, later adding: "It's a wonderful experience, but I am nowhere near ready to say that's what I want to do three years from now."

Huckabee placed this pledge on his blog on his campaign website

    January 17, 2008 - 11:38 PM

    by Mike Huckabee

Yesterday, I signed the following pledge:

"I pledge to oppose amnesty or any other special path to citizenship for the millions of foreign nationals unlawfully present in the United States. As President, I will fully implement enforcement measures that, over time, will lead to the attrition of our illegal immigrant population. I also pledge to make security of our borders a top priority of my administration."

    Important points:

    1. The 12 to 20 million illegal immigrants now here will have to go home.

    2. They will not get any legal status while here that allows them to remain long-term.

    3. Once in their home countries, they may apply for re-admittance to the U.S. as immigrants, visitors or temporary workers through normal channels.

    4. Once in their home countries, they will not receive any special privileges on the basis of their having been in the U.S. illegally, such as being put to the front of a visa line.

    5. There will be no new categories or programs through which they may re-enter the U.S.

    6. There will not be an expansion of green cards in any existing categories that will speed up their movement to the front of the line.

(The Governor agreed to this pledge made to the American people with his public signing before the national media on Jan. 16, 2008 at North Greenville University, South Carolina.)

I don't want a lawyer in the position, that's why Palin is a good VP to me.
I'd rather have an ex-governor be in office than this current BOZO!

I only agree that it sounds better than the others...
But as Governor he did and said just the opposite.

anything beats the fascist we have in office now.

I like Huckabee's personality but I am not sold yet. However, I do like the fact that he pledged to oppose Amnesty, I don't know any other candidates that have done that, etc.

If we can get a fair vote.

I probably will not vote Democrat in 2012 unless they start standing up for us and Democracy. At this time, I just see the financial mess and indifference to the American people attributed to that party and they are a scary bunch. And too, I feel the Democrats have been hiactked by Fascist. I will probably vote Independent, Constituition and/or Republican Party in 2012.

I think many Americans will be more cautious about who they vote into office in 2012 after the surprise many Americans got soon after obama hit his office chair in the White House.

Ron Paul signed the exact same pledge. (I forgot about him.)

Tancredo didn't have to sign it because he had been the most vocal candidate opposed to open borders and amnesty for many years.

Brian Bilbray also supports no amnesty and border fences.
