Ourselves redpony, ourselves. At least most everybody does their "gumshoeing" here. So when anybody makes a statement here, you can 99.9% of the time go to bank on it.

Absolutely. At least ALIPAC is real....not some mirage that will go poof at a moment's notice.

We cannot trust anyone or any institution. Remember, this is the same scientific community that said eggs were bad for your cholesterol. Turned out they were not. They said cyclamates were carcinogenic. Turned out they were not. They said chlordane was a safe termite poison if applied correctly. They were wrong. They said Dursban was a safe replacement for chlordane. It wasn't.

The problem with too many of these studies is that stringent test procedures and control procedures are not followed. As soon as some data appears to corroborate some other data, they blurt out their latest findings and make it sound like it is factual rather than hypothetical. Just because two events occur at the same time does not mean they are related. One of my favorite cartoons on this subject appeared in New Yorker Magazine in the 1950's. It showed two cavemen peering out of their cave at an erupting volcano. One of the cavemen says "It's that damn Og and his wheel."
