CNN Chart Compares Surgical Costs in Nine Countries

    http://www.cnn.com/2010/HEALTH/04/26/ch ... tml?hpt=C1

At the bottom of this article is a chart listing several standard surgical procedures and the costs in eight other countries as compared to the US.
A heart valve replacement can cost 170,000 dollars in the US, but $22,000 in Thailand. However, I am not sure if I would actually opt for the 1200 dollar surgery in India.

Yet for hip replacements in places like Colombia ($8,360) or Costa Rica ($12, 500) it might even be worth it to walk there from the US ($50,000).

I dont know, I tend to opt for the upgrades and add on accessories.

I like things like actual medical degrees, sanitation, disinfection of the facilities.

I also like, well anaesthetic........I just dont trust some of those countries

NEWSFLASH: Most American Doctors are now from other countries and just immigrated to the USA for the higher pay. Also many American born Doctors are educated overseas. This may not be so apparent in the less populated areas of America but is quite obvious in large American cities. Oops, I should also include Nurses.

that I already knew, but my understanding, many doctors from overseas come here for general practice, as many american students go into specialty

I just dont trust being in another country, and there laws, or lack there of.

althouhg, i have been wondering, since I still retain british citizenship, if I can run back for medical care

I'm sure the costs in Mexico are not the actual total. Wouldn't you have to bribe the anesthesiologist to bring you back? How much do you actually pay the cartels for the drugs? Lots of unanswered questions
