CNN Unwittingly Admits They’re Fake News in Latest Attack on Fox News

    By Calvin Freiburger

If mainstream media giants like CNN are really that upset about President Donald Trump labeling them as fake news, then maybe they should do something about the fact that the label fits them like a glove.

The Daily Caller notes that CNN host Brian Stelter had a … curious … reaction to the following tweet by Trump, highlighting the fact that his approval rating is within a percentage point of where former President Barack Obama’s was at the same point in the first year of his first term, according to Rasmussen:

As the DC’s Amber Athey explains, it’s hard to discern a credible, non-biased rationale for why adding context to a story — context whose factual accuracy is not disputed — constitutes a “disservice” to Fox’s audience:

On Dec. 28, 2009, according to a Rasmussen poll, Obama had a 47 percent approval rating. On Dec. 28, 2017, Trump had a 46 percent approval rating. Obama’s approval rating on December 29, 2009 —
just one day later — was 46 percent, the exact same as Trump’s.

So Brian Stelter is apparently angry that Fox News reported poll numbers that are factually accurate because they happen to be favorable to the president. Very unbiased.
Following the original publication of Athey’s piece, Stelter complained to the Daily Caller that he really meant “Fox & Friends” was “mislead[ing] the public about the president’s popularity,” because “Fox’s own poll data has shown that the president’s approval rating lags far behind all other presidents in modern history.” He also followed up by citing a CNN report on the comparison, which noted that according to other polls, including Fox’s own, 2017 Trump is faring more poorly than 2009 Obama did.

Game set? Not quite. Athey responded to Stelter by pointing out one critical detail:

    Oops.
Gee, it sure is a mystery why CNN isn’t taken more seriously…
