Policy Mic posted this gif that puts into perspective the kinds of jobs that college graduates can expect after they get their diplomas:

The publication provided some interesting stats with the animated gif: “According to the most recent census, 113,000 janitors in the U.S. have at least a bachelor’s degree. And, over 18,000 have a master’s degree or Ph.D..”
It’s not that there’s anything wrong with being a janitor or sanitation worker, but it certainly doesn’t take a four-year degree to do most jobs in that field.

Nearly half of college graduates nowadays can expect to be underemployed, and low-wage jobs for recent college grads are on the rise, according to a chart posted at the Atlantic in 2014:

While colleges have made out like bandits with higher tuition rates, and students have racked up over a $1 trillion in loan debt, our places of higher learning are mostly training future generations for jobs that don’t exist or will be obsolete. Maybe it’s time to change those “studies” departments into science labs.
