AUBURN, Ky. (AP) -- An interpreter who speaks Pennsylvania Dutch has been requested in court in Logan County to help four Amish people who have been cited for not displaying a slow-moving vehicle emblem on their horse-drawn buggies.

The Bowling Green Daily News reported that they apparently had trouble understanding the court proceedings during a pretrial conference Monday in Auburn.

Benjamin Miller, Monroe Miller, Hecekiah Miller and Naomi Miller were cited by Auburn city police in separate incidents for not having the red-orange triangle on their buggies.

The four are members of the Old Order Amish, a conservative group of Amish that dresses more plainly and is much more restrictive on using technology than other Amish groups. A statement from the group said they believe displaying bright colors is sinful.
