Oct. 10, 2006 12:00 AM

More Latinos are breaking out of the middle class, making six-figure incomes and reshaping the economic portrait of the country's largest minority group.

Hispanics are becoming affluent faster than the overall U.S. population, according to the Census Bureau.

The number of Hispanic households earning over $100,000 increased by 64 percent from 2000 to 2005, compared with 40 percent for all groups
"All arrows point up," said Loui Olivas, assistant vice president at Arizona State University. "High-income Latinos are in positions to move agendas, create additional net worth for themselves or others."
