Company recalls cheese sold in 7 states, shipped in gift baskets
By The Associated Press
Cheese Recall PHILADELPHIA, Tenn. - A Tennessee company is recalling cheese sold in seven states, including Georgia, and distributed natiowide in gift baskets that could be contaminated with dangerous bacteria. No illnesses have been reported.
Sweetwater Valley Farms Incorporated said its Southern Cheddar Jack Volunteer Special Cheese was distributed in 7-, 10-, 15-ounce and 5-pound blocks sold in retail stores in Tennessee, North Carolina, Georgia, Virginia, Maryland and Alabama.
The cheese from lot number 539 was distributed between September 19th and November 18th. It was also potentially distributed across the continental U.S. in gift baskets sold on the company's Web site.
Another Tennessee-based wholesaler, Le Gourmet Connection, said it sold 10-ounce blocks of the cheese through Jungle Jim's International Market in Fairfield, Ohio, between August 28th and November 19th.
Sweetwater Valley Farms said the product could be contaminated with Listeria monocytongenes, a bacteria that can cause serious, sometimes fatal infections in young children, the elderly and those with weakened immune systems. Short-term symptoms in healthier people include high fever, severe headaches, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea.
The contamination was discovered in a routine sampling by the Tennessee Department of Agriculture. The company said in a news release that is investigating how the contamination happened.
Customers are urged to discard the product or return it for a full refund. They can call (877) 862-4332 for more information.

I used to order cheese and meat logs from the Swiss Colony for Christmas gatherings. I am afraid to order anything now. Illegal aliens who work in these cheese and meat processing plants have such poor hygiene and health habits, it is no wonder why Americans are getting sick all of the time.
It is now like playing RUSSIAN ROULETTE everytime you eat food processed by illegal immigrants.
Something needs to be done.

NOamNASTY
Good Idea there. Of course, we do already grow a lot of food - and we have a place in another part of the state where our son lives and we could grow enough food to feed us - may have to do that.
I might suggest buying some seeds - like now.
Seeds were scarce around here last year. I have no idea why, but we couldn't get seeds for some things - or particular varieties.
Hadn't thought of animal food - guess my kitties might learn to ear deer meat.
Wow!! Wonder what our government will see fit to do to 'help' us. Round us up??Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)
