I grew up in a home in which Franklin Roosevelt was regarded as a saint. Is it any wonder that it took me so many years before I finally saw the light? As a rule, I don’t approve of people who lay their own shortcomings at the feet of their parents, but when I realize that for no other reason than the way I was raised that I actually voted for Jimmy Carter, it’s awfully tempting to blame my folks.

But whoever is at fault, it is certainly high time to acknowledge how much harm was done to this country during FDR’s administrations, and how much spin left-wing historians have put on his record . For instance, he has often been credited with keeping America from going Communist during the Great Depression. But you might say the same about the leaders of Germany, Italy and Spain.

The fact is, Roosevelt simply introduced an American form of Communism, one the country was willing to swallow. There were no gulags or show trials; instead, there was an alphabet soup of new federal departments and bureaucracies, whose sole purpose was to diminish the power of the states and its citizens. FDR tried and pretty much succeeded in turning the federal government into a grotesque, power-crazy, creature that was all mouth and no brain. Compared to Roosevelt, Dr. Frankenstein was small potatoes.

Roosevelt can’t even be credited with leading the country out of the Great Depression. If anything, as others, including Amity Shlaes in her terrific book, “The Forgotten Man,â€

Looks like a higher power saved our country! I'm gonna' trust that he can help us out during this next election...we need a miracle!

Well, on the other side of the coin --

I was raised Republican. Now in my part of Texas, that was unusual. I thought I mine was the only Republican family in the entire state.

My Grandfather called FDR a 'backdoor socialist' and had nothing good to say about anything he did.

So, having been indoctrinated in the Republican political culture, I did not vote for George Bush. I had serious misgivings, but had I been forced to vote, would have chosen him.

So, now I am a recovering Republican.

What I have realized is - there has been a melding of the two parties and it has been going on for a very long time. They are working together to bring about the new system. You can call it New World Order, globalization, the richer get rich and the poorer get to be slaves, or whatever you like - but it is the same.

They have debated publicly about some things - but when it came to dirty dealings behind our backs, tacked on 'goodies' for big business, etc., these critters have worked hand in glove to bring about the mess we are in today.

Folks, they have even bigger plans for us - unless we do something and stop thinking there is any difference in parties. If they can get us to continue to think along those lines, they have our necks in a noose and all they need to do is tug ----
