Victor Maurtua, 19, was one of five suspects allegedly involved in the killing of Hsiao Hsu, 45, who was shot about 11:40 a.m. March 19 in the 19000 block of Cameron Avenue, said Deputy Oscar Butao of the Sheriff's Headquarters Bureau.

Hsu, the mother of two, was shot and killed as she pleaded with a 911 dispatcher for help. Her attacker chased her around the house and at least two of the shots were fired as she talked with the dispatcher, authorities told the San Gabriel Valley Tribune.

Police said Thursday they are seeking the public's help in finding Maurtua.

After the violent death of Hsu in her own home, police said Maurtua is considered armed and dangerous.

"Try not to confront him. Just give us a call," said Deputy Luis Castro of the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department.

Maurtua is 5 feet 5 inches tall, weighs 140 pounds and has brown hair and eyes. He is a gang member known to frequent the Baldwin Park area, Butao said.

Two underage girls, a 17-year-old boy and 19-year-old Christopher Santana have already been arrested in connection with the case, police said.

Detectives said Santana was the triggerman, but their focus right now is on apprehending Maurtua.

Hsu was an immigrant from Taiwan and a real estate agent who worked under the name Michelle Chien, said longtime friend Henry Chu of Walnut.

Chu's wife, Angela, employed her at AC Real Estate and was handling the listing on Hsu's former home, just around the corner on Quail Valley Lane.

"We all belonged to the Overseas Chinese Youth Association together," Henry Chu said. "My daughter and her daughter did activities together. Most of us in that group have stayed in touch."

Anyone knowing more about the case was urged to call the sheriff's department at 323-890-5500.
