Corporations Selling Bonds at Brisk Clip

BY KATY BURNE

Companies are taking advantage of investors' hunger for yield to bring a flurry of new bond offerings to market.

Corporations have sold more than $35 billion of investment-grade bonds so far this week, offering more than $8 billion on Thursday alone, led by a $2 billion deal from Barclays PLC.

That's just shy of the amount of comparable debt sold in the first week of 2010, which was the busiest opening week in the bond market since 1995, according to data provider Dealogic.
