Barack Obama's liberal policies are proving to be poisonous for Democrat gubernatorial candidates in New Jersey and Virginia. Bob McDonnell's smashing victory in Virginia indicates a net 25% point move away from Democrats in the Old Dominion, when comparing Obama's margin in 2008 with McDonnell's in 2009. That is an amazing move in the space of one year, demonstrating a major voter pushback.


John Corzine has just conceded the New Jersey governorship to Chris Christie, demonstrating that voters are discontent with Democrat business-as usual: high taxes, high unemployment, and corruption.


New York's 23rd Congressional District is close, and the results may not be known for some time. But the circumstances there are unique, with the Republican Dede Scozzafava withdrawing and endorsing the Democrat. It is har to draw sweeping conclusions.


Results are not yet in for California's 10th Congressional District, but local sources in the district have told me they expect the GOP candidate to substantially improve results over the 2009 election.


The public has delivered a strong message to Democrats: back away frojm the extreme policies of Barack Obama or face loss of office.
