    COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS

With record-high unemployment, our country marching towards socialism, and mortgaging our future to China, it seems that there would be little for which us conservatives to be thankful. I’ll pass on this heaping thought because a part of me disagrees.

The truth is, we would have had to hold our noses for years enduring the stench of leftover Republicans from the promise of the 1994 era if it weren’t for the Obama presidency. Think of it this way:

    • Had Obama not become President, America would continue in its passive attitude about government and decline to become involved.

    • Had Obama not become President, the overwhelming success of the tea parties would not have existed.

    • Had Obama not become President, the conscience effort to hold elected officials responsible and/or remove them from office would have been considered too extreme.

There is a silver lining in the Obama presidency. I thank God it has sounded the alarm causing the spirit of Americans to engage in the banquet of patriotism. As Americans, our time has come to show the same vigilance our founding fathers exhibited. Our time to exercise our constitutional rights. Our time to demand the preservation of liberty and freedom.

Any other President could have moved in the same direction incrementally and with a lot less hoopla, dooming America for sure. Yet Obama is a loud burglar who has sounded the alarm and, much to his dismay, awakened the sleeping giant who is filled with a new era of grassroots activism that America has not seen in decades.

We are truly blessed in this hour because we can retool the political process in order to swing back the pendulum to the interests of the people, and not to career politicians and their love of easy money. I’m not naive enough to believe this will happen overnight, however, it is within reason to be optimistic that Americans could regain a true appreciation for American ideals and raise the standard for politicians, which is much overdue.

If Obama where not president, I fear we would be celebrating another season of Republicanism discontent, rather than celebrating a Season of The People.

What Obama has done as awaken the patriotic passion for America which means sacrifice for the greater good of all that is for liberty and freedom.

As a modern historian epitomized it:

“In a Republic, however, each man must somehow be persuaded to submerge his personal wants into the greater good of the whole. This willingness of the individual to sacrifice his private interest for the good of the community – such patriotism or love of country – the eighteenth century termed public virtue (Gordon S. Wood, The Creation of the American public, 1776-1787, The University of North Carolina Press, Chapel Hill 1969 p. 6.

Bring on more of The Tea Parties, more of Townhall meetings, more everyday people running for office. It’s a great time for Americans to take back it’s government and for that I am thankful.

I liked the start of this article about things that were brought forward as a result of obama being in office like a renewed sense of patriotsm.

However, Republicanism discontent? This was a marketing strategy employed by the fascist in Washington.

In the last 2 years of the Bush presidentcy the Democrats were the majority in the house and senate. So it was a two- party disaster.

I agree, but Bush was president and he was a Republican (at least in name) and therefore you will be hard pressed to find anyone in the mainstream press blaming Democrats for anything. Had the MSM done its job, i.e., objective journalism, it would have traced the origins of the financial crisis back to the Carter and Clinton administrations. Bush's main sin, and that of the Republican party, is that when they knew Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were screwed up, they did not press the issue. They gave a tepid try and backed off. So yes, it was (and still is) a two party mess.
