    Immigration Group Urges Census Boycott

    Immigration Group Urges Census Boycott

BOSTON (UPI) -- Pro-immigrant groups are divided over how to plan to boycott the 2010 U.S. Census as a way to draw attention to immigration issues, officials said.

"Politics is about power and money, and by not giving your information, you'll be taking away money and power from the politicians," Fausto da Rocha, a Brazilian immigrant leader in Boston, said.

The boycott is being organized by the National Coalition of Latino Clergy and Christian Leaders, which represents 20,000 churches nationwide, The Boston Globe reported Tuesday.

Numerous immigrant-advocacy groups oppose the boycott, including the Massachusetts Immigrant and Refugee Advocacy Coalition, the Service Employees International Union, and the Brazilian Immigrant Center of Massachusetts, The Globe reported.

"It may create more antagonism against immigrants. This is not a campaign that makes sense," Eduardo Siqueira, a spokesman for the Brazilian Immigrant Center, told The Globe.

Census information determines how much federal money cities and towns receive for a wide-range of programs from school lunches to highway construction.

That's right it does. Just think about all of those free meals the illegal alien kiddies get at school, all of their special programs at school.....the state projects illegal aliens are hired to do at high salaries depriving American workers of those jobs. And by golly.....what about all of the other freebies provided by states using federal funding?

Oh yesssss......and let's not forget all of those pro-illegal alien politicians and the potential for lost representation in OUR government that they stand to lose as well.

You can bet on it.....that's the ONLY reason some groups are opposed to the boycott

This census will be the biggest pig sty (with apologies to the pigs). I hope they all boycott so there is no representation without taxation when the localities redraw the voting districts.
How about closing the borders, figuring out who is here and deporting the illegals along with their kids, and then conducting a census? Those deficits we are facing would be dramatically reduced. And American citizens in need can get extended help when they need. Now that would be a nice change.
