Critics say Chrysler is a lost cause...

DETROIT - Even by the standards of battered automakers, Chrysler is in dire shape. Its sales in December were down a stunning 53 percent, far worse than Ford or General Motors, and analysts say it probably won’t survive the year as an independent company — despite $4 billion in government loans and the possibility of more.

Things were so bad last year that a single Toyota model, the Camry/Solara midsize car, outsold the entire fleet of Chrysler LLC’s passenger cars.

    “Basically they’re done,â€

Just like everyone knew it would go down and the loans would not work! If course they will not pay the loans back and Americans continue to suffer forclosures and lose jobs. What a pathetic joke our government is!!!

Well at least they won't be funding LaRaza and MALDEF any longer.

Chrysler IS a lost cause! They make gorgeous, beautiful cars, but that about all they have going for them. They are gas hogs, not reliable and expensive. Chrysler didn't keep with the times...sad, but true.

Interesting that their majority owner, Cerberus, is refusing to put another cent into Chrysler and is relying on the backs of the American taxpayer to save their bad investment. If they would have had any belief the company would succeed, they would have supported it and made sure it was on the right track. They should have gotten rid of Nardelli, who was tossed out as CEO if Home Depot.
Chrysler workers will no doubt lose their jobs, and these workers will be burdened with debt, just like the rest of the country, just saving the fat cats that hold the majority ownership.

I had a Chrysler some years back and it was the most unreliable, trouble ridden car I ever owned.
