Not Long Ago... here in this Mentally Retarded Country; the Democrats had the Senate; a super majority in the House and Barack Obama as POTUS ….. no one could have stopped them from giving Reparations… and Yet, they did not. Now, for some off the wall reason with an Election coming up, its an Issue.... an Issue that goes away as soon as you re-elect the simpletons

1. “One false premise is the assumption that every white American's ancestors owned slaves.”
By 1860, only 4% of all Southerners owned at least 1 slave and, according to the Census figures below. only 1.44% of all non-slave Americans did.

This means that the vast majority of all Americans who had American ancestors before the end of the Civil War were not descendants of slave owners and 100% of all Americans whose ancestors came here after the Civil War were not descendants of American slave owners.
2. The other false premise cited was that the wealth of present day America was “built on the backs of slaves.”
What was the economic output of the non-slave states up to and after the Civil War compared to that of the slave states?
As the author stated, the wealth and infrastructure of the Southern slave states was largely destroyed during the Civil War. When it was rebuilt, it happened because of the wealth expended by the North on Reconstruction and by the efforts of Southerners, both white and newly-freed slaves.
The folks claiming that the 21st century wealth of the United States came from slave labor may as well try to claim that the present-day wealth of Europe was built by Nazi Germany because at one point the Nazis had overrun most of Europe.
I happened to overhear one of them citing the very small percentage of slave owners prior to the Civil War. And then he went on to say, “See, that small group who owned slaves did nearly all the work.”
The degree of self-interested imbecility among this crowd is truly staggering.
3. The reparations crowd is as typically statist in this as in everything else. Slavery in parts of the United States was not a program of the federal government. Slavery was a private social institution and legal in some states. The extent of the federal government’s involvement lay in banning the import of any new slaves by the first decade of the 19th century and by a South-friendly Supreme Court issuing the Dred Scott decision.
To those stupid enough to say that the federal government should pay reparations because it did not abolish slavery: what do you call the Civil War, the Emancipation Proclamation, and the 13th Amendment?
And if they persist in their stupidity by floating an argument like, “Well, they didn’t stop it soon enough, so they should pay,” then they should be asked whether they as parents, a MUCH closer relationship to their offspring than anything the federal government has to its citizens, have failed to restrain their offspring from engaging in criminal acts if they should be forced by law to provide restitution to the victims of the crimes committed by their offspring.
In addition to being the same opportunistic weasels their forebears were all the way back to the late 1800s when the progressive socialists began to engineer the takeover of American society, they are intellectually, morally, and economically bankrupt. They should, at every opportunity, be bludgeoned mercilessly with these points and publicly led to the place where they have to acknowledge the utter baselessness of their scheme or be revealed for the venal crooks they are.
They should be given no quarter whatsoever. Either they have to admit they were wrong or persist in an action that demonstrates they are fools.
