Dems of Texas Email and SCHIP
This is an email I got from the Dems of Texas....Notice they never said why Texas has so many uninsured children... the largest in the nation they say....I bet we know why....the vast majority are children of illegal aliens...
Notice the last bold high lighted statement "when every Child IN Texas"....and not ....all the children OF the state of TexasDear fellow Democrat,
Today is a sad day for Texas kids.
Thanks to out-of-touch Texas Republicans in Congress, who voted today to uphold President Bush's mean-spirited, partisan veto of the State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP), the 1.4 million uninsured kids in Texas will be left in the waiting room without ever seeing a doctor.
Even though Texas is home to the highest rate of uninsured children in the nation, House Republicans, led by Senator John Cornyn, would rather score points with their partisan masters in the White House than provide health insurance for Texas children.
That's why I'm proud of all our Texas Democrats, who have fought for the health and well-being of Texas kids by supporting SCHIP in Congress. When it came time to stand up for the principles of opportunity and equality that make our Party great, Congressional Democrats from Texas stood united in defiance of the mean-spirited veto of President Bush.
Please take a moment to thank our outstanding Democratic Representatives. They've truly done us proud.
We've heard a lot of excuses and phony numbers from Republicans who oppose SCHIP, but there's simply no justification for playing politics with our children's health. Today's vote is a clear example of the stark difference between our parties: as Democrats, our highest priority is the people of Texas. For Republicans, it's the crass political maneuverings of the failed Bush administration.
While today's vote is a setback, it is certainly not the end of this fight. Texas Democrats have fought hard for SCHIP -- you sent hundreds of letters to the editor, and over 2,500 of you have signed our petition urging Senator Cornyn to oppose the presidential veto. We've worked hard to promote SCHIP every step of the way because the health of Texas children should never be a partisan issue. That fight isn't over, and we will continue to work toward the day when every child in Texas has the opportunity to grow up happy and healthy.
Please thank our outstanding Democratic Representatives, and I hope you'll continue to stand with us in the fight to come.
Your friend and fellow Democrat,
Boyd L. Richie
