Dreams of a Caliphate Under Sharia: The Chicago Based “Hizb ut-Tahrir America” Terrorist Organization

A former member recounts, “Hizb ut-Tahrir believes in using violent force to remove democratic governments. This will be done by infiltrating armies into a country once they become a Muslim-majority.”

This is an inside look at an organization with more connections to terrorism than the NSA has connections to the American citizens. The Chicago, Illinois based ’Hizb ut-Tahrir America’ organization is working diligently behind the scenes to introduce Sharia Law in America and establish a worldwide Islamic Caliphate. The organization began it’s domestic activities in California in the early 1990′s under the leadership of a man named Iyad Hilal. The group is often referred to as being a “conveyor belt” for terrorists. Its most infamous members were Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the mastermind behind the 9/11 attack, and Abu Musab Zarqawi, the late leader of Al Qaeda in Iraq. Their stated goal is transforming secular host countries into Islamic states. A reputation and propensity to violence has led them to be banned in Bangladesh, Egypt, England, Germany, Russia, Turkey and several other Arab countries. And yet here they are, right in the heart of America. (Note: They were initially banned in England although, the ban has been lifted and the terrorist organization “Hizb ut-Tahrir” is currently operating in Britain today.)

The fundamental goal of Hizb ut-Tahrir is to “combat infidels” in the effort to establishDar al-Islam, (a land where the rules of Islam are enforced.) The Muslims in the U.S. that fall into the category of “moderates” are targeted by the HTA in a campaign of isolation. Their aim is to incite abhorrence within the Muslim population against other Americans, laying the foundation for a violent conflict. One of the strategies employed by the HTA is to instill a sense of alienation among American Muslims so that they will turn away from their country and instead identify themselves as members of the Ummah. This is a, “strategy to isolate American Muslims from the rest of society.” Here is an excerpt from one of their speeches:

“You must realize that the United States is an enemy state that works round the clock to subvert the interests of the Islamic Ummah. America is an enemy to the Muslims whether you are in Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan or Bangladesh. America is making plans against you as Muslims whether you are part of a political party or not…So raise your voice against the American enemy and the government’s subservience to her. Otherwise your silence only gives strength to America enabling her to execute her plans. If they are not stopped immediately and decisively they will achieve an upper hand from which they can inflict greater harm…You must resist America before it is too late. Before she consolidates her foothold in the country like she has done in Pakistan, Afghanistan and Iraq. And stand with Hizb ut Tahrir and give your support to the party in re-establishing the Khilafah which will rule by the Qur’an and Sunnah, build a strong military and eliminate US and Britain-India’s control over the Muslim Ummah”

The strategy of the Hizb ut-Tahrir America organization is one of patience and persistence. It is a long-term strategy that consists of three steps. (We are currently near the end of step 2.):

1. The first step encompasses educating a small group of supporters who propagate the tenets of HTA and become the base membership for the next two steps. Cells are established in this period.
2. The base then reaches out to fellow Muslims to educate and expand membership in preparation for the next and final step. Prominent members of government, the military, and other national power structures are a target so as to make the last step thoroughly achievable.
3. The last step is embarked upon once numbers within HTA reach critical mass – a strength capable to readily change the structure of government to an Islamic caliphate.

Hizb ut-Tahrir America takes advantage of U.S. freedoms to spread their message of hate and intolerance against the United States. They hide behind the Constitution while they seek to destroy it.

The HTA are extremely antisemitic and anti-Israel. This is just one of the many quotes found on literature they often pass out:

“Jews are a people of slander. They are treacherous people who violate oaths and covenants. They lie and change words from the right places. They take the rights of the people unjustly, and kill the Prophets and the innocent.”

They have also been quoted as stating: “Our final goal, however, is to establish a globalcaliphate under Shariah law and impose the Islamic way of life world-wide. Inherently, HTA contends they are at ideological odds with America and therefore must work to undermine the U.S. cultural and political fabric.”

They are currently in the process of carving out a public persona and mission, to establish themselves as a peaceful, social activist group. Much like the Hamas Terrorist Organization front group “CAIR” (Council on American-Islamic Relations) did. While the exact number of HTA members in the U.S. is unknown due to the fact that they operate in secrecy, they are known to have many thousands of members.
