    Baby Boomer - Medicare/Obamacare

O.K. Baby Boomers here is how it goes. The day you turn 64 you will start being bombarded with mail from Social Security informing you that you will be turning 65 and it is time to start planning for Medicare. You start receiving mail from Insurance Companies all wanting you to buy their Supplemental Health Plans.

You think to yourself I am happy with my Health Care Plan through my union retirement package, I will just stay with what I have. But, wait that is not allowed; you receive notice from your Health Care Plan - "You will be turning 65, you must take Medicare and a Supplemental Plan through your Union or you will be dropped".

You hear everyone referring to Medicare as an Entitlement. The complaints about all the Baby Boomers turning 65. Medicare is going broke, etc. Doctor's are turning away Medicare patients, yet we are being forced if we are retired to take Medicare.

O.K. I have no choice, I throw out all the mass mail from other companies and select to take Medicare and the Supplemental from my union package. This means nothing will really change, same copayments, Vision coverage and Dental coverage.

Wrong - Today I received changes to the complete Health Care Packages. Due to the changes in Health Care Laws everyone including retiree's have benefit cuts. They have to find the money somewhere to pay for children up to 26.

Didn't I hear Obama say that his plan would not affect or change anyone that already had Health Insurance's plan? Another lie!

My spouse and I now pay over $600 per month in Medicare and the company I retired from insurance , no eye or dental in that, we still have high co-pay on some prescriptions. I have relatives in there 30's-40's using food stamps, Wic, section 8 housing, some receiving money back in child income tax credit although they don't pay income taxes, plus I pay property taxes for schools to educate illegal children.

Look I say all this not to complain however the point is where is the true burden those on welfare programs or retired seniors and it's certainly not an old vs young issue with me especially young families who are working hard and giving there best effort been there done that however our government needs to look at the whole picture.

We need to face hard facts without manufacturing America will never be what it once was plus we have a culture of welfare that allows people not to work in their youth.

I have two nieces, one with three kids and the other one with two, who receive the child income tax credit every year and they also get food stamps. When they receive their refunds, they buy latest TVs, computers and cell phones (for their kids) and a variety of other big ticket items, which I cannot afford and I work everyday.

See the same, we would have been ashamed but it is built into our system
and I'm not sure what will change it.

It just ticks me off when politicans, etc. throw out the term Entitlement. They act as anyone on Medicare or Social Security is a liability. They forget that Medicare is not an option it is demanded. As a Senior I am still paying taxes. I am still having to subsidize the younger generation through my benefits cuts. I just wish they would get their facts straight and be honest.

I've been arguing this same point with my representatives for months with little results, singling out seniors alone is not the answer.
