Misconception has been a stalwart of our international political interaction, like GWB's claim he looked into Putin's eyes and saw his soul. Putin was a former KGB honcho, for God's sake.
Americans trust everyone too much. We really don't understand the wild histories of most countries nor, apparently, their place as they see it in the world. We as Americans can no longer ignore that other countries are not as open or honest as we are. It starts with the love for the illegals who just come here for a better life (and they won't blow us up) all the way to dealing with other political leaders when we cannot look into their eyes and see their souls and their plans to destroy us in all kinds of creative ways.

You seem to be forgetting that obama made an equally assnine Bush-esque type of statement regarding his own, seemingly ethereal, ability to sit down with, and proceed to neutralize, even the worst of dictators by merely looking into his eyes.

Quite frankly, it does not matter whom such a statement might come from. No world leader....ours or anyone else's.....has any business making statements which imply that they have some mystic, paranormal ability to get inside the mind/soul of another to read and/or influence that individual and/or events.

Besides that, even the MSM is now forced to concede.....however grudgingly..... that criticism, ridicule, and finger pointing directed at the Bush administration has run it's course.....a clear signal from on high that it's time to stop beating past presidents and move on.
