Calif. construction jobs top state, nation

The long-suffering California construction industry got a dose of good news, as its October-to-November jobs gains — 7,800 positions — was the largest increase among all states and boosted California’s own employment picture:

Associated General Contractors of America’s analysis of nationwide employment data by state found that California had the largest monthly increase in construction employment. Next was New Jersey and New York with 4,500.

AGCA notes: “It is encouraging that the number of states adding jobs year-over-year (13) was higher in November than at any time since February 2008 … However, the data also make clear that these gains are as spotty as they are tenuous.â€
