    England most crowded in EU

    England has become the most crowded major country in Europe thanks to high levels of immigration, figures show.

    There are now 395 people to every sq km in England - up from 390 two years ago - and that means the population density is greater than former leader Holland.

    Among EU states, only Malta is now more crowded than England - but it is viewed as a special case because the island's total population is only about 400,000.
