Spray painting mob marches again

On Saturday, March 17 – St. Patrick's Day – there is a march planned in Washington, D.C., that has nothing whatsoever to do with Blessed Patrick.

Instead, as reported by columnist Michelle Malkin: "On that day, well-funded celebrity-studded anti-war groups plan to march to the Pentagon, on a protest route that will take them past the Vietnam Veterans Memorial and climax in calls for immediate withdraws of our troops from Iraq, destruction of America's global military machine, shutdown of the enemy combatant detention facilities at Guantanamo Bay and impeachment of President Bush and Vice President Cheney (plus an end to 'colonial occupation' in Palestine, Haiti and everywhere 'for good measure')."

The last time this anti-war mob assembled in our nation's capital:

Rocks were thrown at a military recruitment station near DuPont Circle – and at a Fox News van.

This mob broke through a Capitol Hill police security line and spray-painted the U.S. Capitol building.

The Lone Sailor at the U.S. Navy Memorial was desecrated.

Disabled Iraqi war veteran Josh Sparling, as he expressed his support for his fellow troops in Iraq, was spat upon by demonstrators.
Since there were tens of thousands of such detestables versus only 40 who supported Sparling, there has been organized a counter-protest called The Gathering of Eagles.

Comprised of veterans, pro-military organizations and Internet activists, the group's leaders have issued the following statement:

"We are a non-violent, non-confrontational group. … Our focus is guarding our memorials and their grounds. We believe that freedom of speech is one of the greatest things our country espouses. …

"We will not stand for violence, vandalism, physical or verbal assaults on our veterans, or destruction or desecration of our memorials. …"

Sgt. Artie Muller, founder of Rolling Thunder, the POW/MIA advocacy group, has called upon 80-plus chapters of this organization to turn out. Move America Forward launched a caravan from California on March 8.

Other groups include the Nam Knights and Vietnam Vets Association. Veterans of Iraq will be joining as well.

This has evoked what should be considered the valuable denunciation from the incredible Cindy Sheehan, who, on her "Gold Star Families for Peace" website, called all these veterans: "RIGHTEST (not Rightist, but Rightest) AMERICA HATERS."

I hope that thousands of my fellow veterans of World War II and Korea will join the Gathering of Eagles in protecting our war memorials from the Capitol gathering.
