Kucinich introduces comprehensive regulatory framework for GMOs

Congressman Dennis Kucinich introduced three bills designed to protect consumers, defend farmers’ rights, and increase food safety. The bills collectively create a comprehensive framework to regulate GMOs.

• H.R. 6636, The Genetically Engineered Food Right To Know Act, would require mandatory labeling of all foods that contain or are produced with GM material.

• H.R. 6635, The Genetically Engineered Safety Act, would require that GE foods follow a food safety review process to prevent contamination of food supplies by pharmaceutical and industrialcrops. This Act would also require that the FDA screen all GE foods to ensure they are safe forhuman consumption.

• H.R. 6637, The Genetically Engineered Farmer Protection Act, places liability from the impacts of GM crops on the biotechnology companies that created the GMOs, and protects farmers from lawsuits by biotechnology companies.

Good for Kucinich!!! A lot of the Scandinavian and European countries have banned US exports due to the genetical engineering food companies do.
There is generically-engineered soy and corn, which were developed by Monsanto which can withstand farmers spraying the crops with Round-Up and other herbicides. I really don't want to eat that stuff.

Thank you Chloe! I would love to see these bills passed. I will tell my reps and senators to support these bills.

Can you imagine how many things will need to be labeled? It's scary.

I DONT WANT TO EAT IT EITHER VORTEX.

IN FACT IF THIS LABELING THING GOES THROUGH...WE SHOULD BOYCOTT ALL GM CROPS AND INGREDIENTS. ITS PROBABLY NOT HEALTHY.

ALSO ...DUE TO POLLINATION SOME OF THIS ENDS UP IN FARMERS FIELDS, EVEN THOUGH THEY DONT PLANT IT. MONSANTO...WHICH SOME FARMERS NOW CALL "MONSATAN"....ACTUALLY TRY TO BULLY FARMERS BECAUSE THEY SAY THEY "INVENTED" THE GM VARIATION AND THEREFORE THEY OWN IT.

CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS? THEY TAKE SOMETHING NATURAL AND MODIFY IT....AND THEN TELL FARMERS THEY CANT USE IT OR THEY HAVE TO PAY MONSANTO FOR USE.

THEY WANT TO OWN THE FOOD CHAIN BY MODIFYING IT. VERY DANGEROUS. THAT IS THE WORST PART OF IT. THEY HAVE PATENTED THE GM VARIATION, SO THEY OWN IT. AND IF REGULAR CROPS ARE INFECTED WITH THE PATENTED VARIETY WE COULD END UP BEING SLAVES TO MONSANTO....OH SORRY "MONSATAN".
