An 8-month-old boy died Sunday night after allegedly being sodomized by his father and another man as the death toll in Juárez surpassed 200 for the month.
The boy's father, Eduardo Margarito Canizalez Camacho, 24, and J. Jesus Rios Jimenez, 56, were arrested by Chihuahua state police at the family's home in south Juárez, officials said Monday.

The baby's mother found the child's lifeless body on his bed when she returned from a trip to the store. Police said the baby had bruises to his torso and anal wounds. The men arrested were reportedly intoxicated.

Among other homicides Sunday were two children run over by truck and a woman beaten to death with a rock.

Minutes after midnight Sunday, Maria Jary Santos Ramos, 8, and Ivan Alejandro Badilla Gonzalez, 13, were hit by a dark-colored Nissan Titan allegedly during a dispute at a family party on a closed street in colonia Tierra Nueva in the city's southern edge, police said.

Shortly before 4 a.m. Sunday, the body of an unidentified woman, who appeared to be in her late 20s, was found face down on the ground next to the driver's side of a black Chevrolet Trailblazer in west Juárez. There was speculation the fatal beating was a failed carjacking.

July is on pace to be the bloodiest month so far this year despite the presence of thousands of soldiers and federal police.

There have been more than 1,100 homicides this year in the Juárez area with a total of more than 2,700 killings since a drug cartel war began in January 2008.

The U.S. Consulate in Juárez earlier this month warned Americans to be cautious when visiting Juárez and Chihuahua state.

Mexico Interior Minister Fernando Gomez Mont is scheduled to meet with local leaders to discuss security issues and possible changes to military operations in a visit today to Juárez and other parts of Chihuahua.

OMG ! I can't imagine the terrible pain and suffering the innocent baby must have endured as it died at the hands of the very person that should have protected the baby. I can't get the image and sounds of a baby crying and screaming for help that must have taken place out of my head. Both the father and his friend have a special place in hell waiting for them. Sickening bastards.

These people are animals! This is the trash that flows across that border unabated! It makes my stomach queasy to even think about!

Sickos like these men will be protected under the hate crimes bill, if it passes. We must not allow it to pass. I hope these scum get life sentences in the general population of the worse jail in the country, see how they like suffering the same fate, over and over again!
