    Calif. population exceeds 38 million

SACRAMENTO – California's population has topped 38 million, the state Department of Finance said yesterday as it released its latest growth projections.

California added 409,000 residents in 2008, bringing its population to nearly 38.3 million to start 2009, the department reported. That's roughly double the population of Florida.

Los Angeles remained the state's largest city with more than 4 million residents, greater than the population of Oregon, according to U.S. Census data. San Diego, with 1.3 million residents, is the second-largest city, with San Jose and San Francisco third and fourth. Fresno became California's fifth most populous city with 495,913 residents, overtaking Long Beach.

    NO AMNESTY

Don't reward the criminal actions of millions of illegal aliens by giving them citizenship.
