JuneS_Reston - I've made the connection a long time ago. The number of these outbreaks have quadrupled in the past 20 years. IMO, its because products are handled by illegal aliens who have horrendeous hygiene habits. I wont apologize for feeling this way.

"The inspection revealed that the firm's internal testing program identified salmonella," said Michael Rogers, director of FDA's division of field investigations. "In some cases ... a subsequent lab was used that reached a negative conclusion."

If there was any doubt about the product being contanimated then it should be been destroyed. I see some big lawsuits coming their way. I also think ICE needs to investigate that company.

The problem also lies with that many of the third world countries where illegal aliens originate do not have the medical and sanitation facilities that we have. Many of the people from these countries suffer from diseases that have long been eradicated from the US. When a person applies to immigrate to the US LEGALLY. The first step is a FULL physical, complete with scans and blood work checking for these diseases. If they are found to have one, they are sent home. Often, if it is a curable disease, they will be allowed to try again to immigrate once they have been disease free for X amount of time. If not, they are banned from the US. Illegal immigrants do not get physicals. They spread their third world diseases to those of us in the US either through person to person contact or through our food and/or water supplies. Unfortunately, a large segment of the illegal populations work in a place that has some contact with our food supply, thereby endangering us all.

Does anyone live in this part of the country and able to offer updates? Never before has a story made such a "splash" without at least a couple employee interviews.

There has not been a peep from any of the workers who were laid off. They may be undocumented, or they may have been paid off - whatever, no one is saying anything. And this is VERY unsuual.

We only have a week for the Senate to draft and vote on their Stimulus Bill. If there is proof positive (not speculation) that the plant hired illegals, this may all that is necessary for Obama to reverse his order and allow E-Verify to be part of the package. It would do me proud to see the Chambers told to pound sand!
