HR 1503 Horrable racist bill or common sense?

    http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bill.xpd?bill=h111-1503

Arizona passed a new law that requires proof of identification to run for president in our state. This is the bill HR 1503 in congress. Now...as always my question is...what do the people here in Alipac think of it?

Personally I think that the FBI back ground check should already have this information as SOP. But I do not feel that this bill in any way shape or form is objectionable as a civil rights violation and it certainly addresses the Constitution requirements for POTUS application.

    But this is just MHO...

    .

how could it be racist ?

It has always been the law. as an example

when I was 14, I was adopted by an american citizen, I was issued a new birth certificate, as is standard, it is an American birth certificate......so, if that is all it took, I could run for president, even though my actual birth certificate says I was correctly born in england

As I have stated before, I am an immigrant, and I 100% support these new laws, and, I am even willing to support laws that remove some rights from even legal immigrants

America is being attacked on many fronts, I would understand and support laws that allowed my home or vehicles to be checked with less restrictive reasons than a true born american citizen

I carry a green card everywhere, because it is the law, I am in line waiting to get citizenship, because that is the law

even though I cant run for president, I do my part, I get out and support candidates, I do precint walks

I served in the military, I may not be an american by birth, but I am damn well an american in everything I do, and I am willing to give up some rights to be able to stay and be one of you

This could have resulted because although John McCain was vetted by the U.S. Congress, Obama was not.

Interesting...so being adopted by American parents does not qualify you as a citizen...?

I don't understand that, my adopted daughter never got a American birth certificate, we still have her Chinese one. She had a green card from the feds and after one year automatically became a US citizen, she now has a US passport, but not a US birth certificate.

nope, still got do all the proper channels, just been lazy and never did it, but even though I did my military time, I dont begrudge the rules, I applaud them.

thats why when people yell we need reform, I vocally disagree, we have a great system, and just like doing for ears of highschool shows a commitment to education, waiting your time to become a citizen shows a commitment too

I guess adoption law has it's own rules.

    But the question is...

do you think a man should prove who he is with paper work and ID to apply for POTUS?

And further do you feel it important for him/her to be a "natural born citizen" as the Constitution requires?

Absolutely on both issues. The founding fathers, I believe, were concerned with split loyalties. Obviously at the time of the Revolution, many of the founding fathers were not native born themselves. But I think their belief was that a US President should be born, and preferably raised, in the US so there would be no doubt as to national loyalty. As to proof, what point is there in having a requirement if no proof is necessary? I am native born. There is absolutely no doubt about it. Yet I have had to provide proof to go to college, to go into the military, to be assigned higher security classifications while in the military, and to apply for social security. I can assure you none of my college experiences, military assignments, or my retirement assigned me responsibilities to this nation any where near approaching those of the POTUS. And how in the world can providing proof of your citizenship and place of birth be racist or discriminatory if ALL applicants/candidates must comply?
