DUI CAO needs to GO!

City Administrative Officer Miguel Santana was arrested by the CHP for driving drunk shortly after midnight Friday in a car owned by the City of Los Angeles.

Repeat: he was driving a car owned by you and me, the taxpayers.

And he was not on official City business at 12:30 a.m. when he failed the sobriety test. Rather, he was on his way home from a fundraiser for District Attorney Steve Cooley.

We lawyers have a name for the act of knowingly letting someone use your car when you know he has a dangerous track record: negligent entrustment.

City Hall needs to take away Santana's keys and encourage him to "seek new career opportunities." This arrest is a deafening alarm bell, and it says, "Do not entrust car keys or the finances of America’s second biggest City to this individual.
