Fired Aide to Sen. Boxer Faces Child Pornography Charges

Thursday, November 13, 2008

WASHINGTON — A high-level aide to California Senator Barbara Boxer has been charged in federal court with receiving and distributing child pornography.

The aide, Jeff Rosato, was fired on Friday after Boxer's office learned of the charges.

He has been released to home detention after a hearing Wednesday in federal court in Virginia, court documents show.

"On Friday, the Justice Department informed our office of criminal charges made against a Senate employee," Boxer's Communications Director Natalie Ravitz said in a statement on Thursday.

"Senator Boxer has zero tolerance for crimes against children, and the employee was immediately terminated. Our office is cooperating fully with the Department of Justice in this matter," Ravitz said.

Rosato had worked for Boxer since early 2005. His attorney did not immediately return a call seeking comment.
