SAN DIEGO — Public schools in San Diego's poorest neighborhoods are now doubling as food stamp enrollment centers for low-income families.

A long line of mothers with baby strollers wait their turn on Wednesday in front of two makeshift tents. Those tents are on the playground of Laura Rodriguez Elementary School located south of downtown San Diego. The parents are hoping to sign up for food stamps.

Typically this process takes place in a county office miles away, but families can now apply at one of five San Diego public schools. The campuses were picked because they serve the highest concentrations of low-income families.

Food stamp school centers are part of a joint effort between San Diego City Schools and the San Diego Food Bank. The goal is to boost food stamp participation in San Diego County.

Poor immigrants? Where are their sponsors who have agreed to assist them economically when they came to this country, in the event of economic hardship?

This of course is assuming they are legal immigrants. Even if they are not legal immigrants, you think anyone's asking, since this is all about securing federal dollars that are lost each year because not enough people apply.

That's our tax dollars they are trying to distribute! Not sure about all those applying, but every single person pictured looks extremely well fed!

The Irony can't be ignored can it? Using schools to hand out food stamps to fat people in one of the highest cost of living areas in the country.

I'd be ashamed San Diego. Shame! Shame! Shame!

Now run these overfed illegal aliens out of your state, get your citizens back to work and off food stamps so we can balance the budget and fix our economy.

    Holy Moly!
