    Irish demanding immigration limits

A MAJORITY of Irish people want tougher controls on immigration at a time of increasing economic hardship in the republic, a poll showed yesterday.

Of 1,000 people questioned, 66 per cent said they wanted more restrictive immigration, while 27 per cent said the policy should remain as it is. Only 7 per cent sought fewer restrictions.

Irish Invaders Protest to Demand Amnesty and Citizenship

    It just ain’t Mexicans, people!

An illegal alien is an illegal alien by any other name is an illegal alien — Shakespear said that I think — and is so regardless of their race, creed, color, religion, national origin or ethnicity.

Inside Rockland: Irish to march in Washington this week

    By STAFF REPORT
    The Journal News

The Irish are again marching in the nation’s capitol expecting to make some headway with immigration reform. Thousands from all over the country are expected in Washington, D.C. this week to tell the country’s leaders that change is needed.

They’re pushing for passage of a Senate bill, known as Kennedy-McCain.

The event is sponsored by the Irish Lobby for Immigration Reform and is similar to other lobbies and Town Hall-style meetings the group has led since forming over a year ago.

Buses are leaving from Woodlawn, Queens, Brooklyn and Monroe at 4 a.m. Wednesday. Other contingents from Boston, Philadelphia and San Francisco will be attending the event, too.

Rockland residents wishing to secure a place on a bus may e-mail ilirnewyork@gmail.com or call Mary Brennan at 914-420-5894. For more information, log onto ILIR’s Web site at www.irishlobbyusa.org.
