A former researcher at the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV) in China's Hubei province revealed that the Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19) was intentionally developed by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) as a bioweapon.
Erstwhile WIV researcher-turned-whistleblower Chao Shao disclosed that the CCP ordered testing of coronavirus strains with the goal of human contagion. During the interview with the Jerusalem Post conducted by human rights activist and author Jennifer Zeng, he said some of his fellow researchers disappeared during the 2019 Military World Games in Wuhan.
One of his colleagues claimed they were sent to hotels to inspect "health and hygiene conditions." However, Shao thinks that this could have been a scheme to spread COVID-19 because hygiene examinations do not require virologists. The researchers at the WIV backed by U.S. infectious disease expert Dr. Anthony Fauci were ordered by "a superior" to identify the most contagious strain of the COVID-19 virus. One WIV researcher named Shan Chao admitted to being provided with the four strains of coronavirus by a superior. He was instructed to test these strains and determine which one had the greatest potential to infect multiple species, with a particular emphasis on human infections.
The whistleblower himself was sent to Xinjiang in April 2020 to examine the health status of the Uyghur population imprisoned in reeducation camps. He was presumably tasked with expediting their release. But with the irrelevance of virology expertise in conducting health checks, Shao believes he was sent to Xinjiang either to facilitate the virus's spread or to study its effects on humans.

His shocking revelation adds proof to the theory that the coronavirus leaked from the WIV, which corporate media outlets and the political class has often criticized as a "conspiracy theory." These disclosures should be concerning to the public, but the data Chao Shao revealed is only the tip of the iceberg.
All roads lead to the lab-leak theory

The true origin of the pandemic, which has claimed at least seven million lives worldwide, is still the subject of an ongoing investigation.
Genetic evidence collected by Chinese researchers in January 2020, which was finally made public earlier this 2023, suggests that raccoon dogs and other wild animals at a market in Wuhan, China, the hub of many of the earliest human COVID-19 cases, could be the source. That same evidence puts SARS-CoV-2, the pathogen responsible for COVID-19, in many of those same market stalls. Experiments suggest that raccoon dogs can be infected with and transmit SARS-CoV-2.
These findings suggest a scenario where the virus spread to people at the market.
However, some scientists say that this is only circumstantial evidence that warrants further investigation, and that there is still the possibility of a "lab leak" at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
To date, at least eight U.S. intelligence agencies have conducted their own investigations of SARS-CoV-2's origins.
Four agencies concluded with "low confidence" that a natural spillover from animals is most likely while two agencies think it was due to a lab leak with "low" or "moderate" confidence.
Two agencies remain undecided. The U.S. government has ordered information related to COVID-19 origins to be declassified.
