Former Univision CEO gives Schwarzenegger $1 million

Former Univision CEO Jerry Perenchio has given Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger $1 million as the governor raises money for Proposition 14, the open primary initiative on the June 8 ballot.

Perenchio has been an extremely reliable donor to Schwarzenegger causes. He donated $1.5 million last year to support budget-related ballot measures backed by Schwarzenegger. He gave $500,000 toward Schwarzenegger's 2008 redistricting initiative and $250,000 to pass the public works bonds spearheaded by the governor in 2006.

In 2005, as Schwarzenegger pushed for several special election initiatives, Perenchio gave $1.5 million to the governor's ballot issues committee, $1.5 million toward putting the special election proposals on the ballot and $250,000 toward an initiative to restrict use of union dues.

He also gave $750,000 to Schwarzenegger's ballot issues committee in 2004 and maxed out on contributions toward the governor's 2003 gubernatorial campaign and his 2006 re-election effort.
