    Estrada Caught...

MORRISTOWN -- A 24-year-old homeless man wanted in connection to a fatal stabbing in California nearly two weeks ago outside a Pasadena auto repair shop waived extradition today from Morris County to Los Angeles.
Elvin Orlando Estrada appeared today in Morristown before Superior Court Judge Thomas Manahan, using a Spanish-speaking interpreter to voluntarily waive extradition.

Just one week after the July 16 stabbing, Estrada was found hiding out in a relative's home in Roxbury where he was apprehended Thursday by U.S. Marshal's Service authorities and Pasadena police, Roxbury Township Police Department Cpt. David Kennedy said.

He had a knife on him, but did not resist arrest, Kennedy said. It was not known whether or not the knife he was found with was used in the stabbing.

A murder warrant for Estrada was issued out of Los Angeles County Superior Court on July 22.

He had contacted his relatives in the Succasunna section of Roxbury shortly after he fled California, asking if he could stay with them, Kennedy said.

Estrada was tracked through some of the nation's southern states, including Georgia, before arriving in Roxbury just hours before he was apprehended, Kennedy said.

The motive for the killing is still unclear, he said.

U.S. Marshals transported Estrada to the Morris County Jail, where he is being held.

Authorities from California have 10 days to retrieve Estrada from jail, or he will be entitled to bail.
