Fright Of The Navigator: ObamaCare Guides Could Be Felons

Identity Theft: Kathleen Sebelius admits that convicted felons could be hired as ObamaCare "navigators," giving them access to the personal information of those signing up. Some might already be on the job.
Health and Human Services Secretary Sebelius made the admission Wednesday in an exchange with Sen. John Cornyn during a Senate Finance Committee hearing.
The Texas Republican asked if it's true that there's no requirement for navigators to undergo a criminal background check and that felons, including those convicted of crimes such as identity theft, could be given access to our most private financial and medical information.
    "This is possible," said Sebelius.
It's bad enough that the ObamaCare enrollment website's security features have not been adequately tested. Allowing taxpayer data to be given to criminals over the phone is unconscionable.
Last month, the Daily Caller unearthed the case of Rosilyn Wells, director of outreach and enrollment for the Heartland Community Health Center and "the only full-time Affordable Care Act navigator in Lawrence (Kansas)," according to the Lawrence Journal-World. Interestingly, Sebelius used to be governor of Kansas.
As the Daily Caller reported, Wells was certified as an ObamaCare navigator despite her financial history, which included a bankruptcy in 2003, a 2007 civil charge from a local check-cashing business for writing a bad check, being more than $1,700 behind on her state tax bill and having an outstanding arrest warrant in nearby Shawnee County on an unspecified charge.
Not exactly the kind of person we would want to trust our private data to.
The Heritage Foundation recently broke the story of Justin Hadley, whose insurer told him the premiums for his new plan would 92% higher. Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina directed him to HealthCare.gov in a cancellation letter he received in September.
When Hadley logged on to HealthCare.gov, he found a big surprise — the eligibility information of another family in a different state. After multiple attempts to navigate the site, Hadley finally got to a point where he was presented with downloadable eligibility letters for two people in South Carolina.
One letter, dated Oct. 8, acknowledged receipt of an application to the Health Insurance Marketplace and the eligibility of family members to purchase health coverage. The letter was addressed to Thomas Dougall, a lawyer from Elgin, S.C.
Hadley contacted Dougall, who was outraged that his personal data was being thrown around like so much confetti. He tried to contact HHS and also asked his elected representatives to demand that his personal information be removed from the billboard that HealthCare.gov so obviously is.
We recently wrote how United Labor Unions Local 100 in New Orleans, which is run by Acorn founder Wade Rathke, announced on its Facebook page that it's gearing up "to do mass enrollment and help navigate people into the marketplaces in Arkansas, Louisiana and Texas under the Affordable Care Act!"
At least 54 individuals who either worked for Acorn and its affiliates, or who were connected to Acorn, have been convicted of voter fraud.
"You accepted a risk on behalf of every user ... that put their personal financial information at risk," Rep. Mike Rogers, R-Mich., told Sebelius while discussing security risks during a House Energy and Commerce Committee hearing in late October.
"Amazon would never do this. ProFlowers would never do this. Kayak would never do this. This is completely an unacceptable level of security."
It is made worse by the fact the person hired without a basic background check to guide you through the ObamaCare maze may be a convicted felon. You might as well just hand them your wallet.

Sebelius Shocker: Felons May Have Been Hired as ObamaCare Navigators

Kathleen Sebelius was treated to another scorching round of hearings Wednesday, led most memorably by Senator John Cornyn. The jaw-dropping admission by Sebelius that felons may have been hired as ObamaCare “navigators” should have her fired.
The recklessness and wanton disregard for the health insurance status, security of sensitive data, let alone the truth, is quite frankly inexcusable by any standard. Cornyn points out that a Quinnipiac poll taken before the ObamaCare reform was rammed through Congress and signed by the president indicated that an overwhelming 88% of Americans with health insurance were satisfied with their coverage. Cornyn pointed out, rightly, that this was no doubt why the president made repeated promises that you can “keep your plan” if the healthcare “reform” bill was passed.
According to CBS News, both Democrats and Republicans have raised questions about the Healthcare.gov website’s security, including if data collected and stored there was secure from hackers. CBS uncovered information that the security chief of the website never signed off on its launch. His resignation was announced on Wednesday.
ObamaCare navigators are contracted affiliates of the ironically misnamed Affordable Care Act, and their political leanings are predominately hard left. A list compiled at PJ Media provides some idea of the shady actors who are ‘partners’ carrying out this disastrous legislation, including open borders groups and radical agitators. I suppose the president doesn’t know anything about that either. He’s welcome to read IJReview, and we’ll keep him abreast of what’s going on in his own administration.

    Obamacare Criminals

November 8, 2013 by Bob Livingston

The tragic farce that is Obamacare gives new nuggets every day. Now we know from Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius that there is no Federal requirement to perform background checks on Obamacare navigators and it’s quite possible some criminals have found their wayinto the system.
The term “Navigators” is Obamacare-speak for people who are supposed to help guide consumers through the process of selecting the right healthcare plan. This requires the navigator to obtain the consumer’s personal data, and that opens people up to the threat of identity theft.
Let’s see. The website went live with no encryption to protect personal information. The website’s terms of use state there is no expectation of privacy. Personal information is being sent to wrong person. A lot of “dodgy” organizations are serving as navigators.
And now it’s highly likely that criminals have been hired as navigators.
It is understandable that a background check for criminal behavior would not be required. After all, what is government but a gang of thieves?
