In a Wall Street Journal op-ed today on homeland security, Rudy Giuliani references September 11 nine separate times. In one of those instances, he claims he prepared New York City well to “withstand the 9/11 attack“:
One reason New York City was able to withstand the 9/11 attack was that we were prepared to meet 21st-century security threats. … And while we didn’t anticipate the specific scenario of 9/11, the constant practice, and the relentless follow-up from actual emergencies, certainly helped in its aftermath.
Jim Riches, a deputy New York City fire chief who lost a son at the Trade Center, has a very different perspective:

He was wandering the streets because his emergency center was destroyed - he put it on the 27th floor of the WTC because against the advice of all his advisors because he didnt want to walk far and the owner was a friend. The Owner then helped raise $500,000 shortly after the contract was signed for the lease.
Giuliani didnt do anything on 9/11. He IMO, is a disgrace, a bully, and corrupt.

Never in the history of the United States has one state gotten so much help from the federal government. Money poured in from all over the world. Guillani just had to stand there and look pretty.
If you remember the other states who have survived disasters, none more than Florida, they have never seen such support as Guliani did during that time.
I am not saying that we should have supported New York, but what I am saying is Guilani never had to scream for a cent.<div>''Life's tough......it's even tougher if you're stupid.''
