A GOP Win in Massachusetts? Believe It!

It only took a few short months of complete Democrat control of Washington for the American people to realize that they made a terrible mistake. Yes, the Republicans currently in office had gone astray. But rather than working at the grassroots and primary level to get better Republicans, voters turned to the Democrats. And look what we are getting... massive deficits... government control of banks, automobile companies, and quite possibly the health care industry. More taxes and less power for each and every American.

That's what the Democrats want to deliver, but the American people have had enough. With the election of Republican governors in New Jersey and Virginia just a few months ago, voters were already sending a message. However, that message is nothing compared to what's happening now. In a race for the Massachusetts Senate seat that was held by Edward Kennedy, Republican Scott Brown is not only making it a race, but he can actually win!

On Tuesday, Massachusetts voters will head to the polls to elect Kennedy's replacement. The race is between Mass. State Sen. Scott Brown and the state's liberal Democrat Attorney General Martha Coakley.

As noted in a recent column by Michelle Malkin:

Coakley, the Bay State's attorney general, has campaigned to replace the late Sen. Kennedy on a law-and-order platform. But she has consistently turned a blind eye to both. When a top aide to Boston Mayor Tom Menino was caught deleting thousands of e-mails in violation of public records law last fall, Coakley punted. She has siphoned $25,000 out of her state campaign fund for a poll on her federal Senate bid; used another $24,000 from her state account to pay Beltway political consultants advising her on the Senate campaign; and reportedly used a secret asset sale pact between her state and federal campaign committees to use state campaign funds to purchase a fundraising database, redesign her website and obtain $6,000 worth of campaign paraphernalia with her Senate logo.

And it goes on and on.

State Sen. Scott Brown is running a campaign that should resonate well with the voters of Massachusetts and every other American who is concerned about what is going on in Washington:



# Government is too big and that the federal stimulus bill made government bigger instead of creating jobs
# Taxes are too high and are going higher if Congress continues with its out-of-control spending
# The historic amount of debt we are passing on to our children and grandchildren is immoral
# Power concentrated in the hands of one political party, as it is here in Massachusetts, leads to bad government and poor decisions
# A strong military and vigorous homeland defense will protect our interests and security around the world and at home
# All Americans deserve health care, but we shouldn't have to create a new government insurance program to provide it

Great platform! But here's what's amazing. It looks like Scott can actually win!

Political analyst Charlie Cook tells National Review Online http://www.nationalreview.com/baystate/ ... FhYjg4Nzk= that "he's 'convinced' that Republican Scott Brown 'really might win' the upcoming special election for U.S. Senate in the Bay State. Brown, he says, has run a 'flawless, very smart campaign' while his opponent, Democrat Martha Coakley, has been 'overly cautious' and run an 'awful campaign.'"

A Rasmussen Reports poll published on Tuesday showing Coakley with 49% of the vote and Brown with 47%. A similar poll by Rasmussen just a week earlier had Coakley leading 50% to 41%. What a difference a week makes.

And now, on Friday, the Washington Examiner http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/opini ... 81862.html is quoting a "well-connected Democrat strategist" as saying that the "bottom has fallen out of Coakley's poll numbers."

In her own polling, Coakley is said to be around five points behind Republican Scott Brown. "If she's not six or eight ahead going into the election, all the intensity is on the other side in terms of turnout," the Democrat says. "So right now, she is destined to lose." Intensifying the gloom, the Democrat says, is the fact that the same polls showing Coakley falling behind also show President Obama with a healthy approval rating in the state. "With Obama at 60 percent in Massachusetts, this shouldn't be happening, but it is," the Democrat says.

The story notes a Suffolk University poll released on Thursday that shows Brown with a four-point lead, 50% to 46%. http://www.bostonherald.com/news/politi ... ormat=text

This race is crucial! Not only do we need to do everything we can to help Scott Brown's campaign, but if he does win, the Democrats are ready to delay his seating until after the health care vote. As noted in an AP story on GOPUSA, http://www.gopusa.com/news/2010/january ... nate.shtml "Massachusetts' top election official says it could take weeks to certify the results of the upcoming U.S. Senate special election. That delay could let President Barack Obama preserve a key 60th vote for his health care overhaul even if the Republican who has vowed to kill it wins Democrat Edward M. Kennedy's former seat."

This is THE battle. If Brown can win, he not only sends a message across the country, but he immediately affects the balance of power in the U.S. Senate.

That was a great interview with Sean Hannity. I liked his answer to the question "what type of candidate are you, a Reagan conservative" to which he replied, "I'm a Scott Brown Republican."

He's going to be strong on fiscal matters, foreign policy issues, terrorism, borders, immigration and I suspect better trade policies. I wish him well!

I heard a blip of an interview he had a week or so ago where he commented on his taking Ted Kennedy's seat to which he replied "the seat I'm running for isn't Ted Kennedy's seat or anyone else's, it's the people's seat."

I really liked that answer.
