Reuters Poll: Obama Approval Slumps Among Independents

Independent voters, who will be crucial to President Barack Obama's re-election effort, are abandoning him now, according to a new Reuters/Ipsos poll. The president’s approval rating among independents dropped to 37 percent in March from 47 percent in February, the survey shows.

Independents provided an important source of support for Republicans in their election victories last year. And Obama has moved his policies toward the center this year in an effort to gain the support of this key constituency.

The president’s overall approval rating dipped to 49 percent in March from 51 percent last month, a move within the margin of error, according to Reuters/Ipsos.

Ipsos pollster Cliff Young says that, although Obama’s popularity is stable for now, he “could go through a rough patchâ€

It really dose seem like this Country is trying to hit rock bottom more and more daily. Sad...

So they are trying to say Obama's bad ratings are because of gas prices and oil prices? WTF kind of crap are they smoking. Former dem voters like myself have been flocking to the independant group for the last few years and in the last 2 in record numbers. Independants are also now swaying more to the conservative side because democrat voters and independants see Obama is bringing ruination to our country. Ask any mainstream dem who doesn't have a private investment in illegal immigration, vast majority want the border secured and illegals gone. Least those who are Americans by parentage and don't have family who are illegals or abusing the illegal workforce.

Independants and mainstream Dem voters don't support Obamacare when they know whats in it. Many do support the idea of a fully socialized healthcare system for citizens (not what we have now and not what Obama wants). Many support immigration law enforcement, a secure border, and countries for immigration being pro American thinking countries. Many support less government regulation effecting Americans more regulation meant to protect big business and big union from buying politicians and the government... again not what Obama supports. Many mainstream dems support a form of protectionism for American made and American jobs.

Well least of the educated mainstream dems on the issue.... but thats NOT what we are getting from the dem party and hence why many of us are helping throw out the current demoRAT party.
