    GOOGLE Is Anti-American

I'm just mad at google and would like to share my thoughts on this anti-American company. HAVE TO VENT. It may have been posted before, but I would like to share the links again.

I think every American should BOYCOTT Google. THEY DO NOT HONOR
MEMORIAL DAY OR PRESIDENT'S DAY. THEY ARE ANTI-AMERICAN and don't forget they work with the Chinese to use a sensored version of it's search engine! SEE LLINKS TO SEE THE PICTURES AND THE PAST FIVE YEARS BELOW in the first article.

Google refuses to Honor the Fallen (AGAIN).
    May 30th, 2006 by Dave

    SCROLL TO BOTTOM FOR UPDATES!

This past Memorial Day Weekend, Charles Johnson at LittleGreenFootballs noted how Google never chooses to honor our fallen military men and women on Memorial Day, although they seem honor every other random holiday and birthday in existance by creatively altering their Google logo.

HiWired Blog posted an email this weekend regarding the situation, from a Google representative last year:

We have to balance this rotating calendar with the need to maintain the consistency of the Google homepage.

Furthermore, Google’s special logos tend to be lighthearted in nature. If we were to commemorate Memorial Day, we would want to express reverence, rather than mirth. This would be a particularly challenging design. We would not want to, in any way, create a graphic that could be interpreted as disrespectful. In light of the mail we have received about this, we are actively considering designs we could display on this day next year. We welcome any suggestions you may have.

Remember that this email was regarding Memorial Day 2005. It seems that Google forgot about Memorial Day 2006.

In the above email, Google states that it wished to create an appropriate logo, but that it was just oh so darn difficult. Well, apparently not difficult enough for Ask.com and Dogpile.com, two alternative search engines, to appropriately and succinctly honor the Memorial Day tradition.

So, Google, whats going on here? Not only is Google guilty of censoring the Google for the oppressive, authoritarian Chinese Communist Party (two cheers for Free Speech!), but the search engine is also more likely to honor:

    1. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Birthday

    2. The Persian New Year (I’ve never even heard of this)

    3. Bloomsday (what the hell is Bloomsday?) in 2004

But quite obviously, Memorial Day does not take priority over the above occasions.

So, Google, here are just a few of SevenStripes.com’s personal suggestions for NEXT year’s Memorial Day 2007, if you care to remember.

    1.)

    2.)

    3.)

    4.)

Simple. Not “particularly challenging.” Modest. Respectful.

If I can make them, why can’t you, Google?

    **************UPDATE May 30 2006 @ 3:08 PM EST**************

Over at LGF, kyle_st comments with Google’s response to his complaint about failing to honor our troops on Memorial Day yet again:

Thank you for your note. We understand your concern about not seeing a Memorial Day Google logo. If we were to commemorate this holiday, we’d want to express reverence; however, as Google’s special logos tend to be lighthearted in nature, this would be a particularly challenging design. We wouldn’t want to create a graphic that could be interpreted as disrespectful in any way.

We have a long list of holidays that we’d like to celebrate in the future. We have to balance this rotating calendar with the need to maintain the consistency of the Google homepage. We really appreciate your feedback regarding the Google logo, and please be assured that we’re actively pursuing ways in which we can acknowledge Memorial Day and other such occasions in the future.

    Regards,
    The Google Team

In other words… “blah blah blah… THE ANSWER IS NO. blah blah blah. Thanks!”

Did I not just exhibit how incredibly simple it would be to create a respectful design for Google’s logo? Call me crazy…

This story has rung a familar tone to instances where Google’s motives have been questioned in the past:

One notorious instance was (and still is) the fact that if one Google searches the word “failure,” the first return is the White House’s official biography of President George W. Bush:

    http://www.google.com/search?=en&q=failure

This was, obviously, done intentionally. And its been known by the public for some time — one must wonder why this hasn’t been rectified, if it was a mistake.

In addition, only a week ago Newsbusters wrote a story regarding the possibility that Google was intentionally “purging” conservative news sites and organizations off of its Google News service.

    Google again snubs George Washington
Ignores 275th anniversary of birth while recently honoring Lowell, Munch, others

Honoring China's 'The Year of the Pig'

Over the weekend, Google highlighted the Chinese New Year – the year of the pig – with a couple of the porkers dancing in place of the "Os" in its name. But today, the Internet behemoth that recognizes holidays and special events with modifications to its logo declined to recognize the birthday of George Washington, "the father of our country" and the first president of the United States.

It's been able, in recent months, to highlight special honors for Percival Lowell, Edvard Munch and Louis Braille. Lowell was an astronomer, Munch an artist, and Braille developed Braille writing for the blind.

    Honoring Percival Lowell

But while the rest of the nation marked the 275th anniversary of the birth of George Washington, Google did not. Google officials also did not return WND e-mails and messages inquiring about the lack of recognition for Washington.

    Honoring Edvard Munch

The only reference to Washington on the company's various corporate pages was on its GoogleBlog, where in 2006 Jen Grant, the product marketing manager for Google Book search, wrote a couple of paragraphs promoting the features of the search.

Why are we paging through presidential history? Today is Presidents Day – or, to be more accurate, Washington's Birthday. What we now call Presidents Day was first celebrated on February 22, 1796, commemorating George Washington's birth in 1732. But according the calendar that was in use when Washington was born, his birthday was on the 11th, not the 22nd. When he was a young man of 20, Great Britain and her colonies adopted the modern Gregorian calendar, skipping 11 days and making January, not March, the first month of the year.
That's right – over the course of Washington's life, the times quite literally changed. And to make things even more complicated, in 1968 Congress passed a law making the third Monday in February a holiday commemorating Washington's Birthday, regardless of the date. Since then, historically minded sorts have suggested it be called "Presidents Day" to account for Lincoln's February 12 birthday too; today many people associate the third Monday in February with both Washington and Lincoln.

Grant then listed some of the featured items in a search of the Google Books Library Project.

    Honoring Louis Braille

As WND reported last week, Google acknowledged Valentine's Day with a special modification of its logo that appeared to spell "Googe."

Google's 2007 Valentine's Day logo appears to be missing the letter 'L' at first glance

Other days that have been honored have included National Teachers Day, Women's Day, Ray Charles birthday, World Water Day and St. George's Day,

The company came under fire when recently, for the 8th year in a row, it made no effort to commemorate any holiday honoring U.S. veterans or war dead on either Veterans Day or Memorial Day. It claimed the holiday was too solemn, though its Canadian homepage did feature a tribute to fallen soldiers.

Google's holiday signature is a dressed-up corporate logo for major holidays and lesser-known occasions alike. Besides overlooking Veterans Day and Memorial Day since the company's inception in 1999, it also has ignored Christmas.

Google has been criticized for its one-sided political contributions and content policies:

Rejecting an ad for a book critical of Bill and Hillary Clinton while continuing to accept anti-Bush themes
Rejecting ads critical of Rep. Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., while continuing to run attack ads against former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay, R-Texas.
Allowing the communist Chinese government to have the search engine block "objectionable" search terms such as "democracy."
In addition, the company came under fire for an editorial decision giving preferential placement to large, elite media outlets such as CNN and the BBC over independent news sources, such as WND, even if they are more recent, pertinent and exhaustive in their coverage.

    (Story continues below)

As WND reported, 98 percent of all political donations by Google employees went to support Democrats, and as a matter of fact, Al Gore is now a senior adviser to Google.

Google CEO Eric Schmidt gave the maximum legal limit of donations to Democratic presidential nominee Sen. John Kerry and to primary candidate Howard Dean.

Schmidt also contributed the maximum amount to Sen. Clinton.

It is pathetic, that is for sure. Our country is being cleanesed of all it's traditions...the very things that made our country great.
