Gunmen kill 11 in northern Mexican bar

CIUDAD JUAREZ, Mexico (AP) -- Gunmen opened fire at a bar in the northern Mexican city of Chihuahua, killing 11 people, officials said Friday.

Also Friday, Miguel Angel Villagomez, the 40-year-old owner and editor of La Noticia newspaper in Lazaro Cardenas, was found shot dead near a highway in western Michoacan state.

Officials had no motive or suspects in either shooting.

The attackers in Chihuahua walked into the Rio Rosas bar shortly before midnight Thursday and began shooting indiscriminately, state prosecutor's office spokesman Eduardo Esparza said.

Chihuahua state has seen hundreds of murders this year as the government tries to track down on warring drug cartels.

On Aug. 16, gunmen killed 13 people, including a 1-year-old child, at a dance hall in Creel, a picturesque town along a canyon railway popular with tourists
