(NewsCore) - ROGGEN, Colo. -- Authorities said about 500,000 chickens were killed Monday afternoon in a fire at a Colorado egg farm that spread to multiple buildings.

No human injuries were reported in the fire at Moark Hatcheries in Roggen, about 50 miles northeast of Denver, KDVR-TV reported.

The blaze was reported at around 1:30 p.m. local time, and destroyed four buildings that housed chickens used for egg production, Weld County Undersheriff Margie Martinez said.

It was not immediately known what caused the fire, which was still raging in the late afternoon. Several local fire crews were summoned to fight it, according to KDVR-TV.
