WASHINGTON, Sept. 15 -- Rep. Sander Levin, D-Mich. (12th CD), issued the following newsletter:

About half way through his address to Congress, the President stated: "There are also those who claim that our reform efforts would insure illegal immigrants. This, too, is false.

The reforms I'm proposing would not apply to those who are here illegally."

Here is what the House health care reform bill says: "SEC. 246. NO FEDERAL PAYMENT FOR UNDOCUMENTED ALIENS.

Nothing in this subtitle shall allow Federal payments for affordability credits on behalf of individuals who are not lawfully present in the United States."

In other words, the House bill explicitly prohibits illegal immigrants from receiving any Federal dollars to subsidize health insurance.
