The Greatest Assault on the Constitution In Your Lifetime

If you can make only ONE call, make it to Rep. Louise Slaughter:
    Tel: 202-225-3615 / Fax: 202-225-7822

The Washington Examiner has reported that House Democrats appear poised to adopt a rule that would pass the Senate health care bill without actually voting on it. Rep. Louise Slaughter (D-NY) is preparing to pass the health care overhaul through the House of Representatives without a vote, as was originally reported by the National Journal's Congress Daily.

In the "Slaughter Solution," the rule would declare that the House "deems" the Senate version of the health care bill to have been passed by the House. House members would still have to vote on whether to accept the rule, but they would then be able to say they only voted for a rule, not for the bill itself.
Democrats would thereby avoid a direct vote on the health care bill while allowing it to become law!

Constitutional attorney Mark R. Levin asks, "They're going to present a rule, issued by her committee as chairman, that says that the House already adopted the Senate bill when we know it didn't?"

I plan to start calling Monday morning and to continue on doing so. Thank you for the new information. As everyone keeps saying, as long as they're not actually voting, they don't have the votes! I believe there is to be a Tea Party/GOP anti-healthcare reform legislation rally at the Capital on Tuesday: we can help reinforce their efforts with our calls.

The Slaughter solution is the most insane thing I have heard. It is a desperate attempt to push a lousy bill, and just make our voices less important than they already are. They are even attempting to take away representation by our duly elected representatives. This makes me wonder about the sanity of whoever hatched this plan.
If it passes the House should just stay home as what they think will count just as much as the constituency -- nothing!

It is against the law. They do not have Constitutional authority to minority vote pass it. There will be repercussions.
